A guide for guests
Everything a guest needs to know before joining a recording. Send this to anyone you invite.
You’ve been invited to record on Vidiicast. There’s nothing to install and no account to make. Here’s how it goes.
Before the session
- Use a laptop or desktop with Chrome or Microsoft Edge. They give the best quality.
- Wear headphones. Wired ones are best. Without them, your mic picks up everyone else.
- Close other video apps like Zoom or Teams, so your camera is free.
- Plug in, if you can. A cable to your router beats Wi-Fi. Recording also works fine on Wi-Fi.
Joining
- Open the link in your invite email a few minutes early. It opens an hour before the session.
- When your browser asks, allow the camera and microphone.
- Type your name. It’s how you’ll appear in the transcript.
- Check you can see yourself and the mic meter moves when you talk.
- Press Join studio. If it says Ask to join, the host lets you in.
During the session
The host starts and stops the recording. Press M to mute and V to turn your camera off. The chat button opens messages from the host. If a message flashes up on screen, it’s a nudge from the host, like “Wrap up”. Nobody else hears it.
After the session
Keep the tab open until the bottom corner says “Uploads complete”. Your recording is made on your computer at full quality, so it needs a moment to finish sending. If you close it early or your computer restarts, just open the same link again and it carries on.
Your recording: the session is recorded so the show can edit and publish it. If you have questions about how it will be used, ask the host. Our Privacy Policy explains how we handle it.
